Message from the President
I am very pleased to welcome you to the 2016-2017 HRMA Program Year. As a SHRM – Silver Merit Award Chapter, HRMA strives to “serve the professional and enhance the profession.” We do so by providing you with programs, information and networking opportunities that stimulate professional growth and enhance workplace contributions. By attending meetings, reading HRMA Perspectives, and developing relationships with colleagues, you will not only enhance your knowledge of HR but also continue to grow as an HR professional.
I would like to begin by thanking each and every one of our members that consistently take the time out of their busy schedule to attend the monthly membership meetings and serve on the various committees. What can you look forward to this year? We have a number of great programs planned for our monthly meetings, starting with our September kick-off meeting, “FLSA.” Subsequent meetings will include such topics as diversity, employee wellness, violence, benefits and employee engagement. Each program is not only educational but also designed to maximize the opportunities for building professional relationships with your HR colleagues. Broaden your network of professional contacts and increase your HR knowledge base by joining us monthly. For those of you who are interested in HRCI recertification credit (or starting in 2015 SHRM Certification), we do apply for credit for most of our programs, and in fact, we have already been notified that our first program has been approved for credit.
This year, our monthly meetings will continue to be held at the Worcester Technical High School conveniently located on Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA. We have continued to receive positive feedback on the location, venue itself and, just as importantly, on the food! Based on your feedback, half of the meetings will be breakfast meetings.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our fantastic Board of Directors for their continued hard work on behalf of the Chapter. We are fortunate to have such an active and dedicated Board and their commitment to HRMA has been a critical factor in the continued success of the Chapter. Thank you to Natalya Fater, Darlene Heywosz, Betsy Landry, Beth Groccia, Tess Schlemmer, Wendi Adams, Aimee Jalbert, Peter Brunault, Holly Ricard, Jane Fontaine, Anita Desai, Dali Danielson, Jessica Massery and our Administrator Michelle Gneda for their on-going contributions to HRMA.
Speaking of contributions…would you like to become more involved in the Chapter? We encourage you to volunteer to become involved with any of HRMA’s subcommittees. This opportunity allows you to develop leadership skills that will distinguish you both professionally and personally. If you have an interest, please contact the following committee chairpersons.
